Photowalk - Photo Art: Playing with light

You’ve been at a location again and again and have made up your mind that there is nothing any more interesting for you to take any more photos from this location ?
What about becoming creative and doing some photo art ?
Over here I’d like to show you some examples on how to do this, e.g. when playing with the available light.

PA-Photowalk Southern Sweden: Malmö/Ystad – travel photography under time pressure

To go to Stockholm by car all the way through Southern Sweden via Skåne and Blekinge, well this meant more than 1200 km driving. It was crystal clear, that we wanted to do so only with two stops in between, because these two provinces in Sweden are known for some worldwide famous names and locations, like e.g. Nils Holgersson, Wallander, Ystad and Karlskrona.
As a matter of fact you should really spend a few weeks there, especially when you want to take photos, showing at least some impressions of the landscape, locations etc. But as another matter of fact, we didn’t have any weeks, not even one week. We didn’t have much time, not even at our planned stops. No time, not much time, time pressure – a well known and typical problem of travel photography, especially when you are on the way more or less all the time, like it is when you are on a round trip/tour e.g. Just a few hours at a location, that was already the maximum time for us, because before we had to arrive at the location first and besides even we, too, had to sleep and eat from time to time. Now, what can be done photographically in such a case ?  No photos at all or just a few quick shots by the way ?

Review PA-Photowalk Lueneburg Heath part 2 – boring sky and landscape photography

Now here’s the second part of our boring sky problem and we are back to the Lueneburg Heath, but this time with some impressions of its landscape.

As mentioned before, it was beautiful warm weather but most of the time there wasn’t any beautiful sky, just something above us looking like a compact slightly grey mass – no clouds, no colo(u)rs, no real structures, nothing at all. Well, in travel photography one often doesn’t have the chance to wait for the day with the best photo conditions possible. So over here I’d like to show you what can be done at the location directly, in spite of a boring sky above you when you are on a photowalk, planning to do some landscape photography.

Review PA-Photowalk Lueneburg Heath part 1 - boring sky and architecture photography

The Lueneburg Heath, situated in Lower Saxony in North Germany, is a real interesting place to visit and to spend holidays there. There are lots of things to discover: the landscape with the heath and the woods, the rivers and lakes/ponds, the towns like e.g. Lueneburg, the little villages with all the half-timbered houses and so on. It was beautiful warm weather but most of the time there wasn’t any beautiful sky, just something above us looking like a compact slightly grey mass – no clouds, no colo(u)rs, no real structures, nothing at all. But in travel photography one often doesn’t have the chance to wait for the day with the best photo conditions possible. So over here I’d like to show you first, what can be done at the location directly, in spite of an absolutely boring sky above you when you are on a photowalk and planning to do some architecture photography.
